Sophisticated Elegance: Lee Paton AW15 “For Elizabeth”

Mail Attachment

Lee Paton is a British luxury fashion label based between London and Paris. Founded in 2010 by designer Lee Paton, following graduation from London College of Fashion in 2008, a design internship at Alexander McQueen and training on London’s Savile Row.

Paton Women creates classically sophisticated luxury ready-to-wear garments which are handmade in the UK with intricate embroideries and hand-finishing. Wools and tweeds are sourced from Yorkshire and the Scottish Highlands while silks, lace and cottons come from France. The house silhouette is classic, feminine and elegant. Designs present a rich mixture of traditional British elegance and tailoring with detailed hand-finishing inspired by couture techniques of the early Parisian ateliers.

Rather than following a concept or theme for Autumn-Winter 2015 Lee Paton was struck by a muse. AW 2015/16 “For Elizabeth” is a homage to award-winning dancer and the Royal Ballet’s Principal Character Artist, Elizabeth McGorian, a private client of the house. Her love of furs, opulence and a keen eye for fine details made her an ideal muse for Paton while her tall elegance and ballet poise made her the perfect mannequin.

“Her joie de vivre has been a constant inspiration so I felt I had to do something to honour it”.

The AW15 collection through its luxurious textures, from cashmere wool and silk velvet to buttery leather and plush fur, is a nod to Elizabeth’s elegant style. The relaxed shapes and tailored comfort of some of the pieces also acknowledge the earlier days of dance training.
