“Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt,
and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen.”
― Leonardo da Vinci
For his Autumn/Winter 2016 collection Ashley Isham found inspiration from a contemporary young Russian Artist Igor Skaletsky. Based in Berlin but born in Moscow Igor’s creates thought provoking paintings and textural collages. The way Igor freely manipulated the recognizable images of art history and high culture – Isham was particularly fond and incorporated his works throughout his collection.
With a sense of romanticism combined with a dreamily ethereal mood that creates modern, of-the-moment clothes – spectacularly magical. Exquistely engineered whilst decorated to make a woman swoon and ache with desire, after they made a debut under the bright lights.
Isham designs clothing what women want to wear in an artsier tone with serene, beautiful materials that are fresh and carefree yet hold strong razor-sharp tailored silhouettes. His couture like designs manifest into something essentially urban and city-ready. The colour palette throughout the show for AW16 sees a range of deep, dark and romantic hues of teal, maroon, olive and magenta all perfect colourings for the uber, polished breed of woman.
